Cebu City remains without PIO head

HRDO head Henry Tomalabcad said the delay is still within a reasonable timeframe during a leadership transition, but acknowledged the significance of the role.
-
He said that of the 11 coterminous positions under the mayor, at least 80 percent have already been filled. The PIO head, however, is not considered coterminous in Cebu City, unlike in other LGUs.
“In Cebu City, what usually happens is that someone from the executive branch is designated to head the PIO, as was done in previous administrations,” he said.
“Sa pagkakaron, so far wala pa koy nadunggan nga head sa PIO,” Tomalabcad said, noting that Mayor Nestor Archival Sr. may already have someone in mind but has yet to make a formal recommendation.
Despite the vacancy, Tomalabcad stressed the importance of appointing a PIO head soon, given the office’s crucial role in disseminating information on the city government’s programs and services.
He emphasized that only a department head can steer the direction of the PIO.
