Cebu's business community moved quickly on Wednesday to reassure investors, tourists and residents after a 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck the province late September 30, shaking much of central Philippines and prompting widespread safety inspections.

The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), led by president Jay Yuvallos, said it was coordinating closely with government agencies to assist affected firms, pledging both short-term relief and long-term recovery measures.

"The Cebu business community has always been resilient, and we are confident that together, we will recover and rebuild stronger," the group said in a statement.

The Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) echoed the call for vigilance, urging companies to prioritize employee safety while activating contingency measures.

"Cebu has endured hardships before — and Cebu will endure again," MCCI said in a statement signed by its president, Mark Anthony Ynoc. The group cited the province's track record of economic resilience during natural disasters.
