CCPO: TEU personnel committed no violation

|March 07, 2026
The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has cleared a Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) personnel of any violation for driving an impounded motorcycle that recently went viral on social media.
-
CCPO information officer Police Lt. Col. Jose Los Baños defended the TEU personnel from allegations of possible carnapping after a closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showed the officer opening the motorcycle's storage compartment before driving it.
Los Baños explained that the TEU personnel opened the motorcycle's u-box to get a rag to wipe the seat before driving the vehicle to the CCPO headquarters and did not gain any personal benefit from doing so.
He added that records show the citation ticket for a modified muffler violation had been issued to a certain Bryle Cortes Sespeñe, reportedly the cousin of the netizen who complained about the incident on social media.
