Archival backs revival of Cebu City Zoo
The Freeman
|June 04, 2025
Cebu City Mayor-elect Nestor Archival Sr. said he will support plans to revive the Cebu City Zoo, alongside the revival of the Cebu City Eco Park in Barangay Kalunasan.
-
He, however, said that it should be done at a lower cost but with a greater impact.
Archival yesterday met with the management of the seven-hectare eco park at the mayor's lobby to discuss the matter.
He added that this came after the team requested a meeting to discuss the proposed budget of P300 million to revive the eco park—a plan Archival had also supported since he was councilor.
Archival said Cebu City still doesn't have any parks large enough to match the potential of the eco park.
As discussed during the meeting, Archival said that of the proposed budget, only P120 million was actually released.
Archival also learned, during the meeting, that the budgetary appropriations had already been rerouted to another project, and the eco park management no longer had access to the related documents.
Archival said that one of his recommendations was to retrace the budget allocations and to determine the remaining balance.
