Pollsters tip Nitish comeback as CM

A majority of the exit polls for the Bihar Assembly elections have predicted a return of the state’s longest-serving CM, Nitish Kumar, to power.

- Gaurav Vivek Bhatnagar

At least ten polls have projected ruling NDA to win between 130 and 167 seats in the 243-member House, voting for which was held on Nov 6 and 11.

As for the Mahagathbandhan, the exit polls have projected it to secure between 70 and 102 seats. Interestingly, these polls also suggest that Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party—despite the buzz surrounding it—may fail to convert popularity into votes, with a likely tally of 0-8 seats. A win for NDA, if it happens, would give 71-year-old Kumar the opportunity to serve as CM for a record tenth time.
