Indian passport slips, now ranks 125th out of 197

India’s passport has slipped to the 125th position among 197 countries in the Global Passport Index 2026, falling one place from last year, while European countries continue to dominate the list of the world’s strongest passports.

Despite the drop in ranking, India’s overall composite score reached a five-year high of 45.1.

Unlike traditional rankings that focus only on visa-free travel, the Global Passport Index by Global Citizen Solutions assesses passports across three pillars: enhanced mobility, investment opportunities and quality of life.
