Court blasts Devaswom Board over gold theft
The Free Press Journal
|November 06, 2025
The Kerala High Court has sharply criticised the Travancore Devaswom Board over the theft of Sabarimala gold and called for a broader probe into incidents dating back to 2018.
A division bench of the court observed that the theft involved large quantities of gold, which had been illicitly taken from the Sabarimala temple premises.
In response to these findings, the court has directed the police and other authorities to conduct a scientific investigation to confirm the exact scale of the theft and to gather gold samples from various locations. The step aims to provide clarity on how much gold was lost and how it was extracted, while addressing ongoing concerns about the integrity of temple property.
