Despite Deputy CM announcing cancellation of ¢21 crore land transaction linked to son Parth Pawar, several questions remain unanswered

- Varad Bhatkhande

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Friday announced the cancellation of the controversial Mundhwa Mahar Watan land deal allegedly linked to his son Parth Pawar. However, despite the announcement, the transaction has raised serious questions among citizens and opposition leaders.

According to documents, Amadea Enterprises LLP purchased a 40-acre plot of government-owned Mahar Watan land in Mundhwa on May 19, 2025. Along with Parth Pawar, his cousin Digvijay Patil is a partner in the firm. Police sources confirmed that two criminal cases have been registered against the company in connection with separate land deals—one at Khadak police station and another at Bavdhan police station.

The FIRs name executives and government officials, including the sub-registrar, tehsildar, power of attorney (PoA) holder, and a partner present during registration, on charges of fraud, cheating, and causing financial loss to the state. However, Parth Pawar’s name is absent from both FIRs, with police stating that the cases were filed “based on available evidence”.

Key questions remain

Despite Ajit Pawar’s assurance of transparency, several questions have emerged over the legality and propriety of the land deal.

How was the sale deed registered without payment?
