Attention shifted to the opposition benches as members of the AIADMK, BJP and PMK staged a walkout after Speaker M. Appavu declined permission for a discussion on law and order.
The ruling DMK maintained that the day’s agenda was meant for customary business marking the start of the year’s sittings and that issues raised by the opposition could be taken up through established procedures at a later stage.
