Macho hero’s legacy of humility, simplicity

Veteran film star Dharmendra passed away on Monday morning at his Mumbai residence after a brief illness. He was 89. The actor died just days before his 90th birthday on December 8, 2025. His last rites were performed at the Pawan Hans crematorium in the presence of family members and several Bollywood celebrities including Hema Malini, Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Sanjay Dutt and others. Heavy security was deployed at the venue.

Unfortunately, on Monday, the makers of the upcoming film Ikkis unveiled the poster featuring veteran actor Dharmendra. Starring Agastya Nanda in the lead role, the film is scheduled to hit cinemas on December 25.

Dharmendra had been admitted to Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital on October 31 after complaining of breathlessness. He was discharged on November 12 as the family opted for home care. The ‘He-Man’ of Indian cinema, who worked in over 300 films and left a lasting impact with his screen presence, iconic roles, and enduring charm, breathed his last at 89.
