Gaikwad flags dismal state of BMC hosps, demands clarity on ₹7k cr health budget

The Congress MP said several civic hospitals in Mumbai are literally on “ventilator support”

After inspecting R.N. Cooper Hospital in Vile Parle on Wednesday, Congress president and Mumbai North Central MP Varsha Gaikwad launched a sharp attack on the state government and the BMC, accusing them of playing with the lives of Mumbaikars.

She said that while providing public healthcare is the moral responsibility of both the government and the BMC, several civic hospitals in Mumbai are literally on “ventilator support” due to lack of facilities.

Poor patients are suffering, she said, demanding to know, “Where exactly is the Rs7,000 crore health department budget of the BMC going?”
