The investigation into the gold heist at the Sabarimala hill shrine has entered a decisive new phase as senior political figures are drawn into the probe.
The special investigation team established to examine the misappropriation of gold-clad panels has indicated that Kadakampally Surendran, the former minister for Devaswom affairs, may be summoned for questioning.The development follows the arrest of A Padmakumar, former president of the Travancore Devaswom Board, whose statement has placed the focus on the minister’s alleged involvement.
Padmakumar, who held the TDB presidency in 2019, has told investigators that the handover of gold-clad door frames to businessman Unnikrishnan Potti took place with the knowledge of Kadakampally Surendran.
