The special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court has refused to grant bail to Ali Asghar Shirazi, a close associate of the drug kingpin Kailash Rajput, observing that there was no delay by the prosecuting agency in proceeding with the case.

The court, however, said that if the case does not proceed within the next one year, Shirazi can move the plea again.

Shirazi's lawyer Ajay Bhise had moved a plea for bail on the grounds that he was arrested in January last year but the predicate offence has not been transferred to the special court. It was contended that there is no chance of the trial starting anytime soon.
