Minister George defends Sharavathi storage project

Karnataka Energy Minister K.J. George has addressed growing concerns surrounding the Sharavathi Pumped Storage Project, assuring that the initiative is both environmentally compliant and essential for the state’s future energy needs.

Speaking to the media near the Bhadra Reservoir in Bhadravati taluk, the minister emphasized that while opposition is inevitable for any major project, the government is committed to transparency and dialogue.

“There will always be a few who oppose development. Our officials will engage with them and clarify doubts,” George stated.

He reiterated that Karnataka currently faces no power shortage, but the project is a proactive measure to prevent deficits over the next 4-5 years.
