Rahul Mamkootathil, the Palakkad MLA on the run, secured anticipatory bail from the Principal District and Sessions Court in Vanchiyoor, offering him a measure of protection as investigators intensify their work on two rape cases registered against him.

The order directs Rahul Mamkootathil to appear before the Crime Branch and cooperate fully with the inquiry after remaining untraceable for nearly a fortnight. The court examined submissions from both sides before coneluding that custodial interrogation was not essential at this stage, while stressing that the MLA must make himself available to the investigation team.
