Parasaran's frustration spotlights a tension between institutional protocols and meritocratic recognition

- HD Bureau

At 98, former Attorney General K. Parasaran revealed that his application for a part-time law lecturer post was never honoured by the institutions he approached.

Speaking at a platinum jubilee event marking 75 years of his legal career, he described the omission not as a personal slight, but as symptomatic of procedural neglect within academic appointment systems.

Parasaran addressed a distinguished gathering—Supreme Court and Madras High Court judges among them—sharing both wry humour and pointed critique. He said he had formally applied for the lecturer role long ago yet “officialdom sidelined me without explanation.”
