In a dramatic move, the Opposition BJP on Monday attempted to lay siege to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s residence, claiming the ruling Congress has converted prisons into “night clubs” that provide VIP treatment to criminals and terrorists, and demanding the resignation of both the Chief Minister and Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara.

The controversy erupted after video clips surfaced showing inmates using mobile phones and other facilities inside prisons, prompting the BJP to launch a sharp attack on the Congress government.

Speaking after participating in a protest organized by the BJP Yuva Morcha near the CM’s official residence, State BJP president B Y Vijayendra alleged that since Congress came to power, prisons in Karnataka have become nightclubs and entertainment clubs where terrorists, anti-nationals, and hardcore criminals enjoy royal privileges.
