The pleas-ure and satisfaction of seeing one’s name in print can best be understood by those who have been published—or are still trying to be. French author Gustave Flaubert captured this desperation succinctly when he said, “To see one’s name in print. Some commit crime for no other reason.” Alas, this great pleasure was denied to Jane Austen, one of the finest women writers the world has known.
