As the clock ticks down to the local body elections, political alliances within the Left Democratic Front are under increasing strain, with allies gearing up to contest against one another in several local bodies across the state.

The campaign season has revealed deep-seated tensions, particularly between the CPI and the CPM, as both parties struggle to reach consensus on candidate nominations.

In Alappuzha’s Ramankari panchayat, a crucial battleground with 14 wards, the CPI has decided to field candidates in four wards that are currently held by the CPM.
