World welcomes Trump- brokered Gaza ceasefire

In a major diplomatic breakthrough, world leaders have welcomed the first phase of US President Donald Trump's Gaza peace plan — a historic agreement between Israel and Hamas that includes a ceasefire, the release of hostages, and the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza.

The deal, brokered with the help of Qatar, Egypt, and Turkiye, has been hailed as the first concrete step towards ending two years of conflict that has devastated the region.

President Trump announced the accord on his social media platform, Truth Social, declaring that “all hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their troops to an agreed line as the first steps toward a strong, durable, and everlasting peace.” He thanked the mediators and called it “a great day for the Arab and Muslim world, Israel, and the United States we will achieve all our goals and expand peace with our neighbours," he said.

Hamas, meanwhile, confirmed the deal on Telegram, calling it "an agreement stipulating an end to the war on Gaza, the occupation's withdrawal, the entry of aid, and a prisoner exchange." The United Nations, European Union, and several major powers swiftly welcomed the announcement.
