During the Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi and Congress held several meetings with farmers, making many promises and accusing the government of failing them. Rahul assured farmers that if Congress came to power, all their demands would be met. The two-year-long protests and loss of lives among farmers should have been a significant issue for the opposition, but they did not take it seriously.
