Vitamin D and Calcium: Building Blocks of Bone Health

Our diets provide our bodies with a range of essential nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, and other micronutrients.
In particular, to maintain healthy bones, we need to consume adequate amounts of calcium and vitamin D.
Calcium is one of the main ingredients of bone and it comes from dietary sources (which are the safest and most effective) or calcium supplements. If there is insufficient calcium in the circulation, the body depletes calcium from the bones, causing them to thin.
On the other hand, vitamin D supports bone health in more than one way. In addition to assisting in the absorption of calcium from food—which is necessary for strong bones—it also helps shield older persons against osteoporosis. In addition to strengthening bones, calcium and vitamin D support strong muscles and a healthy immune system. To keep your balance and lower your chance of fractures and falls, you need strong muscles.
