US Imposes Sanctions on Mexican Cartel Linked to Drug Trafficking

The Trump administration announced economic sanctions on Thursday against three Mexican nationals and two entities based in Mexico, all connected to a network involved in drug trafficking and fuel theft linked to Mexico's notorious Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
This cartel is one of the most powerful and violent in Mexico, with an estimated 19,000 members, and has grown rapidly since splitting from the Sinaloa Cartel in 2010 after the death of key Sinaloa leader Ignacio "Nacho" Coronel Villarreal.
