Trump Takes A U-Turn, Nepal Encounters Political Instability
The Daily Guardian
|September 13, 2025
According to clauses 77 I and III, should the PM resign, pass away, or be removed from office, the President is required to call for new elections. Until these elections take place, the senior-most or a seasoned individual is appointed as the interim PM.
This week has proven to be quite dynamic concerning global affairs. A political upheaval commenced in Nepal as its PM KP Sharma Oli ultimately resigned; conversely, the PMs of France and Japan have stepped down for their individual reasons. Also, it was significant to witness Trump making a long-awaited change in his stance on India. In conclusion, it can be stated that the world is presently in a state of flux.
After India demonstrated its tenacity and refused to compromise on the interests of its farmers, fishermen, and dairy producers, which provoked Trump to impose significant tariffs on India, he has ultimately started to reverse his stance and referred to the Indian PM as "great" and his "very good friend", this week. He also announced on social media that India and the US are set to finalize their trade agreement soon. The Indian PM responded subtly on social media, reaffirming the strategic partnership between India and the US. However, prior to labeling the Indian PM as a close friend, Trump had urged the EU to impose 100% tariffs on India and China. However, the German Foreign Minister has indicated that India should take into account the EU as an ally, during his recent visit to India.
Meanwhile, Nepal experienced a complete political breakdown; after a ban on social media was enacted, the 'Gen Z' took to the streets of Nepal, leading to violent protests that resulted in the resignation of Nepalese PM Oli. The home minister, Ramesh Pathak, initiated this wave of resignations following the departures of the other ministers, culminating in the resignation of the Nepalese PM. Currently, there is a discussion regarding the name of the interim PM, as several names have been proposed.
