SC directs ECI to publish list of 65 lakh omitted Bihar voters

The Congress on Thursday welcomed the Supreme Court's directive to the Election Commission of India (ECI) to publish the names of around 65 lakh voters omitted from the draft electoral rolls in Bihar, calling it a "courageous" decision and a "gigantic first step" towards protecting democracy.
Congress General Secretary and media in-charge Jairam Ramesh, in a post on X, said, "The Supreme Court has just upheld the Constitution of India in a categorical, convincing, and courageous manner. Today's verdict on the Bihar SIR issue is a beacon of hope. It is a gigantic first step in our long struggle to rescue our Republic from the machinations of the Prime Minister and his drumbeaters."
