Punjab marks one year of free electricity: A power revolution

Punjab celebrates a milestone as it marks one year since the introduction of free electricity to its citizens

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed that the 1st of July, 2022 has become a historic date for millions of Punjabis as the state began providing 300 units of free electricity monthly. Approximately 90% of households have not received an electricity bill since the initiative began.
Mann also emphasised that, for the first time, farmers have been granted electricity for more than eight hours daily for paddy cultivation, sans power cuts. He disclosed that the state has fulfilled a 20,200 crore rupees subsidy to the Electricity Board.
