Backtracks on her promise that nobody would lose jobs, goes with SC order for fresh tests for those who lost jobs after SC verdict
After repeatedly assuring the 26,000 teachers and non-teaching staff who lost their jobs following a Supreme Court order that the State Government would ensure that nobody would lose their jobs, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today finally admitted that there was no other option left and the job-losers would have to ultimately take a fresh recruitment test.
Mamata Banerjee said that the State Government would obey the Supreme Court directive passed on April 3 and advertisements would be issued for filling up 44,203 posts deemed to be vacant and the sacked teachers to go through the recruitment again.
"I am ready with Plan A, Plan B, Plan C, Plan D, Plan E. As long as I am alive, I shall not allow anybody to lose their jobs," Mamata Banerjee had told the sacked teachers and teaching staff soon after the Supreme Court verdict.
