Living as a soul
The Daily Guardian
|March 21, 2026
Chapter 2 of the Bhagavad Gita imparts to us a fundamental spiritual truth: the soul is eternal.
To remember that “I am a soul” is to awaken from spiritual ignorance.
It is never born, nor does it die. Weapons cannot cut it, fire cannot burn it, water cannot wet it, and wind cannot dry it. The body is perishable, but the soul that dwells in it is indestructible. Death, therefore, is not an end, but a transition like changing worn-out garments for new ones.
Millions of people recite these verses daily, but most do not think of the deeper implications, and even if they do, they remain points of intellectual knowledge rather than a lived experience.
Understanding that we are souls fundamentally changes how we perceive ourselves. I am not my name, profession, gender, nationality, or status. These are roles I play through a physical costume. The real “I” is a conscious, living point of light eternal, peaceful, and inherently pure.
