In a shocking incident inside the Supreme Court of India on Monday, a lawyer allegedly attempted to hurl an object—later identified as a shoe—at Chief Justice of India (CJI) D.Y. Chandrachud Gavai during proceedings in Court Room No. 1. Security personnel immediately intervened, restraining and escorting the lawyer out of the courtroom.

The assailant, identified as Delhi-based advocate Rakesh Kishore, was swiftly detained and questioned by senior police officials, including the Deputy Commissioners of Police for New Delhi and the Supreme Court complex. Witnesses said the advocate, dressed in full court uniform and wearing a proximity card, shouted, “Sanatan ka apmaan nahi sahega Hindustan," as he was taken away.
