India remains fastest-growing major economy: Economic Survey

India’s economy is projected to grow 6.8-7.2 per cent in FY27, underpinned by strong domestic demand, stable inflation and continued policy support, the Economic Survey 2025-26 said.

The Survey also revised India’s potential growth rate to 7 percent, up from 6.5 per cent three years ago, citing structural reforms, higher public investment, improved logistics and stronger supply-side conditions.

"The economy retains momentum and growth is likely to be sustained into FY27," the Survey noted, adding that India is better placed than most major economies due to its large domestic market and low external vulnerabilities. This comes amid a fragile global environment, marked by geopolitical tensions, trade uncertainty and financial risks from technology and AI investments. Global trade, it said, is increasingly shaped by security and political considerations, with tariffs, sanctions and supply-chain realignments on the rise.
