Bollywood women in 2025 is not only who topped the glamour charts, but who controlled the terms of visibility—roles written with agency, production decisions, and narratives that do not treat women as decorative plot devices.
The most telling sign is the growing normalization of women-led films across genres: for instance, mainstream entertainers like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu, and Kriti Sanon’s heist-comedy Crew; political-action vehicles centered on women like Yami Gautam Dhar's Article 370; and hard-edged, investigative-cinema/OTT hybrids like Bhumi Pednekar’s Netflix crime thriller Bhakshak. Even the big-franchise grammar is being tested by the “female-agent” premise of YRF’s Spy Universe entry Alpha headlined by Alia Bhatt and Sharvari (announced for December 2025 and later deferred to April 2026).
