Foreign universities can attract high-quality faculty, improving the learning environment and thus challenging the Indian way of teaching, learning, and research.
Higher education in India has witnessed different phases. From being a key player in public universities, it has moved to private and deemed universities in the last two decades. There were pro and anti-demonstrations in the country against the privatization of higher education.
Looking at the country's population, the necessity of private and deemed universities arose, and later, universities in the private sector were established to meet the requirements of a growing number of students. It is natural to experience supporting and opposing views across the country. Finally, India has established private and deemed universities. The number of public, private, and deemed universities in India stands at a whopping 1000. With the rapid demand for more institutions, the Government of India inevitably permitted these institutions in all sectors. There was sharp criticism from all quarters.
