Fill unused flying vacancy with woman candidate: HC to IAF

In a landmark ruling emphasizing gender equality in the Indian Armed Forces, the Delhi High Court has directed the Centre and the Indian Air Force (IAF) to appoint a woman candidate in one of the 20 unfilled flying branch vacancies.
The court was hearing a petition from a woman candidate who had ranked 7th in the merit list among female applicants for the Air Force flying branch in response to a May 17, 2023, recruitment notification issued by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The notification advertised 92 vacancies, including two specifically earmarked for women.
