CONG ASKS PM TO CLARIFY STAND ON 50% QUOTA CAP

The Congress on Wednesday posed a direct question to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking him whether he favoured the removal of 50 per cent cap on the reservation of scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other backward classes and whether he will support an amendment to the Constitution for the purpose.

Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters here, party general secretary in charge of communications Jairam Ramesh said the Prime Minister should clarify his stand instead of constant diversion, distortion and defamation of the Congress party.
The Congress general secretary reiterated his party's charge that notwithstanding the denial by the Prime Minister, the BJP wanted to change the Constitution as its ideological ancestors had opposed the Constitution, right since November 1949 when the draft of the Constitution was adopted.
