Bardella to run for French presidency in 2027 if Le Pen remains barred

Jordan Bardella, the 29-yearold president of the French far-right political party, National Rally (Rassemblement National), has confirmed that he plans to run for the presidency in 2027 if the party's leader, Marine Le Pen, remains barred from participating due to a court ruling.

In an interview with Le Parisien on Saturday, Bardella made it clear that, while Le Pen is still his preferred candidate, he would be ready to step forward and represent the party in the upcoming election if necessary.

Marine Le Pen, 56, who has already run for president three times and is considered a strong contender for the 2027 election, has recently faced significant legal hurdles. In March, a French court found Le Pen and several members of her party guilty of misappropriating European Union funds.
