A Long Summer For US-Bound Students
The Daily Guardian
|June 04, 2025
Donald Trump's new policy initiatives have had a far-reaching impact, not just regarding tariffs but also his latest decision to freeze all visas to the United States until his government gets a social media policy in place.
In other words, all accounts that criticize Trump or take a stand that is against that preferred by the United States, such as an "anti-Semitic" stance over the Palestine versus Israel conflict could be enough to turn down your visa application.
Now this has a far-reaching impact, no doubt, but the immediate casualty are the students who have got admission in US-based colleges and were just awaiting their visas. The freeze, we are told, is temporary; the interview slots that have been granted are frozen for now but will get first preference once the United States has its social media policy in place. This does not assuage anyone.
