Medieval eatery on market drops price by £175k

A WELL-KNOWN Cornwall restaurant and former cinema which came on the market for the first time after being in the same family ownership for decades has had a massive price drop.

The Newlyn Meadery, known for its medieval decor and theme, was first put up for sale last September with a price tag of £750,000.

The restaurant, which can serve 120 covers and is one of the most popular restaurants in the area, is now being offered for sale with the much reduced asking price of £575,000 - a drop of £175,000.

The restaurant, in the same family ownership for 60 years, started life at the turn of the 20th century as a cinema. The owner was the projectionist and his wife played the piano throughout the silent films. When the cinema ceased to trade, the building was purchased by a local businessman.
