IT’S undeniable that Chicago is up there as one of the greatest musicals, but just how great depends on the production, the cast, the musicians, the choreography, the direction, etc., etc.

- REVIEW BY LJ TREWHELA

Let me tell you that the version we've had in Truro is one of the best I’ve ever seen - and, actually, one of the best shows I've had the pleasure to witness at the Hall for Cornwall since the theatre opened almost 30 years ago.

Full of ribaldry and sass, this tale of despicable shenanigans in 1920s Chicago is delicious and includes some of the greatest songs in musical theatre history thanks to Kander and Ebb. Throw in peerless choreography by the legendary Bob Fosse, recreated in turn by the equally renowned Ann Reinking - updated here by Gary Chryst - and you have an instant classic.

Giving the Jazz Age era some modern bombastic oomph, Chicago is one of those shows that appeals across the board, which was evident from the wide range of ages seen at the opening night.
