Xenophon gave Piere Strydom his second last winner before finally closing off his career and Sean Tarry's charge was not winning out of turn.

The four-year-old son of Vercingetorix has had quite a late start to his career. He only began racing in May, already as a gelding. As a result he has only run four times for two thirds, a second place and then that runaway success over 1200m under Strydom on the Vaal Classic track on 31 July.
