Relieved to have finally shaken off the "chokers" tag that had followed the national squad for decades, the Proteas are hoping their first trophy in 27 years will open the door for the SA team to secure more titles over the next few years.

Since they last secured a major title at the 1998 Champions Trophy, the Proteas had reached the play-offs at eight limited overs World Cup tournaments but had not won a final.

They eventually ended their lengthy drought at the weekend by beating Australia by five wickets within four days in the World Test Championship final in London.
