'Torture' club director 'unaware' of incidents

One of the directors of Zanzou nightclub in Pretoria said yesterday he had been unaware of the alleged torture and assault of patrons, amid an investigation of the incidents.

Director Neo Moela, represented by advocate Zola Majavu, said he is cooperating with law enforcement and is committed to accountability.

The investigation comes after disturbing videos were leaked on social media by a bouncer. The bouncer, whose name is Pablo, claimed the incidents happened in 2022.

The nightclub has since been closed and its liquor licence is under review.

Additionally, one suspect linked to the assault and torture was arrested in Yeoville and recently appeared in court.

Other directors have reportedly fled the country.
