The monster of load reduction

Apartheid was a bad and cruel system.

The United Nations referred to it as a crime against humanity. However, one of the good legacies of apartheid was the cheap electricity and effective running of Eskom.

Unfortunately, the democratic government has erased that good legacy. For the better part of our democracy, Eskom was mismanaged. And now electricity is expensive.

For more than 10 years, the nation suffered from load shedding. In an attempt to deal with the crisis, Eskom changed senior managers like underwear and this caused instability.
