DISMAL: SA AT 77TH OUT OF 120 COUNTRIES

South Africa's government is ineffective, and the country's quality of life is falling behind that of the rest of the world.

The recent Chandler Good Government Index (CGGI), a comprehensive analysis and ranking of how well countries are governed, places SA at a dismal 77th of 120 countries measured.

SA fell from 70th place in 2021 and isn't even the best country in Africa. Rwanda is at 59 and Botswana is also miles ahead of SA at number 61.

The CGGI aims to benchmark the effectiveness of 120 governments using 35 indicators grouped into seven pillars.

The seven pillars measure leadership, laws and policies, institutions, financial stewardship, marketplace, global reputation and how governments are doing when it comes to helping their people improve their lives. All indicators are weighted equally.
