BANKER: TIN PAN ALLEY STANDS OUT IN GRADE 2 FEATURE AT TURFFONTEIN

- Muzi Yeni

Real spring to Highveld racing

TALENTED. Lightly weighted Tin Pan Alley, who runs in the Grade 2 Betway Joburg Spring Challenge over 1450m tomorrow, is Muzi Yeni's selection for the best bet on the Turffontein card. Picture: JC Photographs.

Last week was very special for me as I managed to secure my 2500th career winner, which eluded me for a while, but it was truly special and to do it winning a minor feature was even better.

I'd like to thank every trainer and owner for their support throughout my career as well as my family who have had to sacrifice with me in order to achieve this unbelievable milestone and I will be doing everything I can to reach my next target.

Racing tomorrow takes place on the Inside track at Turffontein and it is Betway Joburg Spring Challenge day.

This is one of the feature race days during the Spring Season and these two Grade 2 feature races have always been an incredible starting point for many stars over the years to kick start their seasons and this year is no exception.

The entire day looks filled with quality and I'm thoroughly looking forward to a superb day's racing. I will also be watching closely to ascertain which horses to follow through the season.

I won't be riding at the meeting as I'm serving a week's suspension but hopefully we can guide everyone in the right direction.

Race 1 is a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1600m and my value bet on the card comes up in the form of Witching Hour.

This filly has some really good form to her name, she sets the standard and off a good draw, I think this is a perfect opportunity for her to shed her maiden tag.

Lanteri ran four days ago but ran well and if the race hasn't come too soon then she looks like the immediate danger.

Could Maharaj's Test spot be in danger?

It feels silly to even suggest this, but based on the performances of the country's strong spin bowling contingent, Keshav Maharaj's place in the national Test team might be in danger.
