Pupil dies next to soccer field

A Grade 10 pupil from Glenwood High School in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) died on Tuesday afternoon while preparing for a hockey match.

The school confirmed the incident in a statement, expressing sorrow over the loss.

"It is with the greatest amount of sadness that we must confirm that a pupil from our school passed away this afternoon," the school said.

According to the KZN department of education, the pupil was participating in a warm-up soccer game in preparation for his hockey match when he requested to be substituted and stepped aside for some air.
