FORM: BRONKHORST-TRAINED FILLY TO MAKE AMENDS FOR LAST NARROW DEFEAT

Punters get ready for One Party

Last week saw Champions Day take place at Turffontein and without going into too much detail, I would like to say what an incredible day it was. The racing was spectacular, and a massive well done to 4Racing for all the hard work they did to put together one of the best days of horse racing.

Well done to all the winning connections on the day. It also showed how tough racing can be as I ended up with two close second places in races that could have gone either way, including the Grade 1 HKJC World Pool Premier's Champions Challenge over 2000m with Royal Victory.

The other race was Race 4 where One Party was touched off by Blizzard Snow by the narrowest of margins. One Party, trained by Fanie Bronkhorst, is scheduled to run in Race 9 tomorrow so I will talk more about her later in this column.

Racing tomorrow takes place at Turffontein on the Inside track and there will be a nine-race card to preview.

The headliner on the card comes up in Race 7, a MR 96 Handicap over 1800m.

I have seven carded rides and I'll be hoping to get a winner or two on the board.

Race 1 is a Maiden Juvenile Plate for fillies over 1450m and it's essential to watch the betting and the canter past for the best guide to the chances of the unraced runners.

Of the horses that have run, I think Back From War is the filly they all have to beat and I make her the best bet on the card. Her form sets the standard by a long way, and I think she'll enjoy the step up in trip, so I make her very hard to beat and a banker in all bets.

Concordia ran a much-improved race in her second start and with further improvement she stands out as the main danger, so off a good draw, she should be right there.

Race 2 is a Maiden Plate over 1200m and I ride Blue Quartz who was disappointing in her last start. But that was her second run after a rest and if she is able to bounce back to her best form then she can run into the money.
