Ralph Beckett has undoubtedly enjoyed the best season of his career and he can end it with a flourish at Pontefract, headlined by Calla Lagoon in the British Stallion Studs EBF Silver Tankard Stakes today.
Beckett has been the king of the two-year-olds this year and he has had almost 40 individual winners in that department alone.
The future looks bright ahead of next season then, and Calla Lagoon can sign off with a Listed victory.
Beckett has several colts who look middle distance prospects for next year, including Angelo Buonarroti and Starzintheireyes, so he should have a good line on what is required to win a race such as this.
Calla Lagoon was fifth on debut behind the now 106-rated Yaroogh but stepped up on that next time when beating the Futurity Trophy-bound Seaplane at Ascot.
