Abductee tells of initiation horror

Groups of people in Limpopo allegedly abducted men and took them to initiation schools where they were forcibly circumcised, according to the police.

The Citizen spoke to one of the victims, Amos Mahlangane Mathobela, 72, who said the experience was physically, as well as psychologically, traumatic.

He said being forced to go to a mountain initiation school was not only illegal, but also against the family beliefs and customs.

By merely setting his foot on the mountain (Koma) school, he had upset his ancestors, Mathobela said.
