Police probe into teen's death hits six-month point

A PROBE into the death of Tyneside schoolboy Layton Carr is today continuing six months on from the tragedy.

The 14-year-old’s body was found after emergency services were called to a fire at an industrial estate in Gateshead on May 2.

Following the tragedy, at the Fairfield Industrial Park in Bill Quay, 26 children, aged between 11 and 14, were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.

Four have since been told they will face no further police action, while the remaining 22 are still on bail. The Chronicle understands that Northumbria Police’s investigation into the tragedy remains ongoing.
