CALLS FOR EXPLANATION AND APOLOGY FROM AIRLINE
A MAN has spoken about his holiday to Turkey which he says became a “nightmare” after claiming he suffered an allergic reaction on the flight.
Dan Bowes, 32, was on his way to Dalaman Airport from Newcastle on July 9, with best friend Clair on a Jet2 flight, when his throat began to swell.
He had never previously suffered from any known allergies, and took an antihistamine, thinking it was just bad hay fever, which he only developed this year for the first time. However, his breathing became deeper and heavier, and it was soon clear he needed help.
Dan, from Consett, said: "I can’t fault what happened on the flight and the way the crew helped me, I was given oxygen and assisted by the staff, and there were also medical people waiting for me at the airport when we arrived.
"After this incident, I felt fine and had fully recovered, so felt like I could enjoy the rest of the trip.
"The issues came when I was told by the Jet2 rep at our hotel in Marmaris on July 11 that I would need a fit to fly certificate, and a medical information form to be completed by a doctor so that I could fly back home at the end of the holiday.
